Chlorophytum cosmosum 'Verigatem'
Verigated Spider Plant

This Spider Plant was given to me as a cutting from a friend's propogation experiment. I have had it for nearly a year now. Over the summer I was living in a basement apartment in Utah where my plant was not getting enough sunlight.

Week One to three: When I came back to Rexburg, I put the plant in the BYUI greenhouse for about three weeks to help it recover from the summer. While it was in the greenhouse I watered it about once a week using bottom up watering.

Week One
Week Four: When my plant had been in the greenhouse for a couple of weeks, the green color and verigation began to look better and I took it home to my apartment. It's home has been the kitchen counter since I brought it from the greenhouse.

Week Four

Week Five: I watered my plant before I left for Thanksgiving vacation and when I returned it was pretty dried out because our apartment was kept warm while I was gone. Whenever I water my plant I place it in a bowl of water with about a cup of water in it. The water wicks from the bottom up until the soil is completely moist. This watering lasts about six days.

Week Five

Week Six: Today I watered my plant so it is still sitting in the water bowl. I will be taking it with me on my travels over the winter break so that it doesn't perish alone in the apartment. I keep expecting my little plant to outgrow it's small pot but so far it has been pretty happy the size that it is.
